Archivo Vivo offers us ways of looking that rebel against the frenzy of visual consumption—against immediacy, the ephemeral, the disposable. Torn stockings, dying birds, plates stacked after endless meals, a lit candle, and hands that may or may not be our own. The images shift away from spectacle to privilege a quiet intensity that invites attentive closeness. These fragments of life, far from constructing a linear narrative, create a space of ambiguity that turns us into curious witnesses of a foreign world unfolding intimately before our eyes.

This body of images can be read as a living archive that uses the familiarity of the everyday as an entry point to unsettle our relationship with the real. The invitation is to recover wonder as a form of open-ended perception. It is an invitation to let oneself be affected and to hold the mystery without resolving it.

About the Artist

Magaly Ugarte de Pablo is a filmmaker and photographer from northern Mexico. Her career began with training in animation and the arts, later evolving toward film exploration. Over the years, she has created fiction, experimental, and documentary films as well as documentary series. Her short films have been screened at various international and Mexican festivals, including IFFR, DOCLA, Curtas Vila do Conde, Frameline, GIFF, MIC Género, Jaipur International Film Festival, Stockholm City Film Festival, Tirana International Film Festival, among others.
